Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Bank Indonesia (BI) has reported its reserves of gold was recorded at 73.93 tons by the end of 2012 after buying 30 thousand troy ounces or 933 Kgs of gold.
"Our gold reserves by the end of 2012 are recorded at 2,377,046 troy ounces (or 73.93 tons) up 30 thousand troy ounces due to our buying in 2012," said BI's Executive Director of Internal Finance Mubarakah here on Friday.
In the financial statement in December 31, 2012, BI's gold reserves were recorded at Rp38.24 trillions as its gold assets increased by Rp4.73 trillions from Rp33.51 trillions in the same period of 2011, he explained.
"If we talk about gold, don't think that all of BI's assets are physically in gold bars, but half of them are saved in gold securities," he said. (*/M038)
