Yogyakarta (Antara Bali) - The ASEAN countries have become potential tourism market for Yogyakarta that needs to be seized more seriously by the players in tourism here, a tourism official has said.

"The number of tourists from ASEAN countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand to Yogyakarta continues to increase every year," Yogyakarta branch of Indonesian Tour and Travel Agencies Association (Asita) chairman Edwin Ismedi Himna said here on Friday.

He noted that the increasing number of tourists from ASEAN countries who visited Yogyakarta was due to geographic location and easy transportation.

According to him, Jogja Travel Mart 2013 from May 5-8, 2013 is expected to be visited by even more tourists from ASEAN countries.

Edwin said that the Jogja Travel Mart 2013 is part of a tourism promotion and expected to be visited by hundreds, even thousands of buyers from Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Australia, Korea, Japan, Russia and India. (IGT)
