Nusa Dua (Antara Bali) - Police investigators are conducting an investigation at the crime scene following a shocking raid at a penitentiary in Cebongan, Sleman, Yogyakarta, that left four inmates dead last week.
National Police Chief General Timur Pradopo said after meeting with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono here on Tuesday that the police also involved a team from the forensic laboratory in the investigation.
"The national police headquarters through its crime investigation department is backing up the Yogyakarta regional police command in its investigation of the case. We are still focusing the investigation on the crime scene," he said.
He said the police had so far discovered 31 casings and 16 bullets which the forensic laboratory was now studying.
"We have also questioned around 25 witnesses including those who knew the chronology of the event from the arrival of the armed group and their departure from the scene. We are still continuing the investigation and reported the results to the President. However it would still take time for the forensic laboratory to produce the results of its study," he said. (IGT)
