Garut, W Java (Antara Bali) - Two tourists were reported missing Tuesday when swimming in the sea in the Santolo beach, in the regency of Garut, West Java.

Big waves were reported to have swept the two tourists further away into the sea from an area where swimming is forbidden for being known to be dangerous, chief of the Garut sea police Adj. Comr. Asep Suherli, said.

"We have not succeeded in seeing any sign of the missing people,later identified as  Arif (19) and Ihsan (20), both  students from Bandung," Asep Suherli who led the search and rescue workers, said here on Tuesday.

Witnesses said they saw the two young men dragged into the sea swept  by big waves at 15.30 local time.

"One of them cried for help when his friend swept by the waves but he himself also was lost engulfed by the angry sea," Asep quoted a witness as saying.

He regretted that sometime tourist failed to notice the sign warning against danger of swimming in certain part of the beach. (*/T007)
