Nusa Dua (Antara Bali) - Cooperation in technology between developing and developed countries remains a challenge to achieving the global warming and global development targets set in the Post-2015 Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), according to an Indonesian official.

"Technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions have been developed by advanced nations. Developing countries also need such technologies. Should they have pay a lot for that? It's one of the examples," Chairman of the National Committee for the Post-2015 Development Agenda Kuntoro Mangkusubroto said after the opening of Regional Meeting and Stakeholder Consultation on the Post-2015 Development Agenda here on Thursday.

He stated that cooperation between developing and developed countries must be improved.

Mangkusobroto pointed out that advanced nations were not doing enough to address global warming concerns despite having the technologies to reduce carbon emissions.

"However, we have noticed a positive change in the United States lately. In the absence of a formal commitment, the country has managed to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by around 20 percent. But with the help of the latest technologies, they should have been able to cut the emissions much more," he added.(*/DWA)
