Jayapura (Antara Bali) - Police have arrested a civil servant identified only with initial of NM ,40, on charge of corruption at his office at the Kerom legislative assembly.
NM, who is a treasurer of the Kerom district legislative assembly was picked up by police from his office yesterday, Papua police spokesman Adj. Sr. Comr I Gede Sumerta Jaya said.
NM is charged with embezzling Rp2 billion of the state fund, which was to be used by district legislators for socialization activities in 2009.
"NM had caused a loss of Rp2 billion to the state based on an audit by the BPKP financial audit board of Jayapura ," Sumerta said here on Wednesday .
Meanwhile, based on further investigation at the secretariat of the Kerom legislative assembly , police had named another suspect identified as SA , 60, a former superior of NM, Sr. Comr. Setyo Budianto, a senior Papua police detective, said.(IGT)
