Banjarmasin (Antara Bali) - Thick haze blanketing the South Kalimantan city of Banjarmasin have disrupted flight schedules from the city's Syamsudin Noor airport.

Six flights have to be postponed from the airport on Saturday as the smog blurred eyesight, an official of the state airport operator PT Angkasa Pura I said.

"You cant's see more than five meters away that it is not possible for an aircraft to taker off,"  Haruman said.

The smogs were believed to come from forest or bush fires in empty lands after the long drought.

Lion Air had to delay three flights including to Jakarta, Surabaya and Yogyakarta  and Garuda Indonesia, Sriwijaya Air and Batavia Air each had to postpone take off to Jakarta.(IGT/T007)
