Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Indonesia needs minimally Rp9 trillion a year to develop railway infrastructure in the country, deputy for means and facilities of the ministry of national development planning Dedy S Priyatna said.

"It needs minimally Rp9 trillion a year for total railway infrastructure development while funding for infrastructure development, not only railway infrastructure, still poses a challenge for the government," he said here on Sunday.

He said the government kept seeking funds to assure smooth implementation of infrastructure projects to boost the country's economic growth.

He said President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono had given special attention to acceleration of infrastructure development in the country.

"We have heard how much attention President SBY (Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono) has given to infrastructure development from his state of the nation address yesterday. He had asked the cut in energy subsidy, if indeed it could be done, to be used for infrastructure projects," he said.(IGT)
