Medan (Antara Bali) - Foreign affairs secretary general, Budi Bowoleksono urged the regional government apparatuses to improve their diplomacy capability in an effort to make their regions' foreign relations more effective.
"Every government apparatus in the region should master the art of effective diplomacy," he said in the capacity improvement training for the regional government apparatuses in carrying out diplomacy and technical cooperation here on Tuesday.
Budi said the recent global developments have shown that the implementation of foreign relations is no longer dominated by the central government or the ministry alone.
The implementation of foreign relations has become the responsibility of all components of the nations including the regional administrations as stipulated in Law No.22/1999 on regional autonomy, he said.
The law on regional autonomy has allowed the regional governments to make direct contact with foreign parties to manage their administration and economic affairs, he said.(IGT/T007)
