Jakarta (Antara Bali) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has discovered more than 100 regulations that could be considered unfavorable for businesses in Indonesia.

These regulations must be addressed within this week, President Jokowi said while chairing a plenary cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

The President also plans to hold a meeting with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), and other business associations to collect their inputs about unfavorable regulations.

If these problems are not dealt with immediately, businesses will find it difficult to grow, he said.

"Businessmen will find it difficult to invest in Indonesia, and so the capital flow or influx of money from outside the country will be hampered," Jokowi stated.

The President has directed that the aforementioned laws be amended speedily so that they do not hamper the process of economic growth, including the procurement of goods and services, as well as asked that activities aimed at improving the business climate be carried out.

"I know that the drafting of new laws could take time, but the amendments should be expedited," he remarked.

He also emphasized the need to study the existing regulations regarding businesses, and make any revisions if necessary. (WDY)
