Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The Indonesian Democratic Party-Struggle (PDIP) faction in the House of Representatives has rejected the dismissal of Commissioner General Budi Waseso as chief of the National Police Detective Board (Bareskrim).

"We reject the dismissal of Budi Waseso. The PDIP faction believes that Commissioner General Budi Waseso has shown good performance. He is modest and firm in upholding the law particularly in eradication of corruption," member of the  PDIP faction Masinton Pasaribu said here on Wednesday.

He made the remarks in a joint press conference with PDIP faction member Dwi Ria Latifa at the Nusantara Building in the premises of the parliament building.

The PDIP faction rejected intervention from any power and force in the case of law enforcement officers who have successfully revealed corruption scandals at various agencies and state-owned companies, he said.

He said the National Police Headquarters must go ahead with its investigation of cases related to cow hoarding, and abuse of corporate social responsibility (CSR) fund at the Pertamina Foundation as part of efforts to uphold the law.

"In this case there must not be intervention from any authority or force," he said.

He said Budi Waseso had worked to support a clean government and to create good governance.

"We urge the House Commission III to summon the National Police chief to clarify the dismissal process, if any," he said. (WDY)
