Indonesia Wins Five More Gold Medals

Singapore (Antara Bali) -- The Indonesian contingent to the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games 2015 in Singapore added five more gold medals to its collection on Wednesday.

The gold medals came from athletics, boxing and martial arts events.

Agus Prayogo contributed one of the gold medals from the 10,000-meter running event. This win was very special for him because he lost the event in the last SEA Games in 2013 in Myanmar.

This gold medal was his fourth from the bi-annual tournament. Prayogo, who is also an army member, performed his best at the SEA Games in 2009 in Laos, as well as in 2011 in Palembang, Indonesia.

Another gold medal from athletics was won by Maria Londa in the long jump event. Maria, who hails from Bali, was able to break her national record by jumping 6.70 meters, higher than the 6.55-meter jump she made at the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea, in 2014.

"Athletics is a measured sporting event. So every aspect can be seen. A target is between six and seven," Secretary General of the Indonesian Athletics Association (PASI) Tigor Tanjung said.

Indonesian athletes also won gold medals in boxing and martial arts events.

Kornelis Kwangu Langu won the gold medal in the 46- to 49-kilogram category, defeating Filipino boxer Rogen Ladon.

Indonesia also won a silver medal from boxing, with Christina Marwan Jembay being overpowered by Thai Tassamalee Thongjan in the 47-kilogram category.

Moreover, the Indonesian team failed to perform as expected in the martial arts events, securing only one gold medal from the women's group event after Ni Kadek Ratna Dewi, Ida Ayu Putu Chandra and Luh Putu Eka Pratiwi collected 466 points.

Hendy and Yolla Primadona Jampil contributed another gold medal from the doubles art event, collecting 575 points.

Sugianto, who competed in the men's singles event, failed to win the gold medal, which went to Vietnamese Quang Trung Hoand, despite both of them scoring 464.

Furthermore, despite performing well in the initial stage, Indonesia's softball team was unable to do much and was eventually beaten 4-6 by the team from the Philippines. So the squad now has to be satisfied with a silver medal.

In the bowling event, the Indonesian team was only able to win a silver medal from the men's doubles event through Ryan Lalisang and Billy Islam. The gold medal went to the Singaporean pair.

With the additional five gold medals, Indonesia remained at the fifth position with 22 gold medals, 28 silver and 42 bronze medals, followed by the Philippines with 21 gold, 23 silver and 36 bronze medals.

Singapore continues to lead with 60 gold, 51 silver and 64 bronze medals, followed by Vietnam with 48 gold, 23 silver and 44 bronze medals; Thailand with 45 gold, 53 silver and 41 bronze medals; and Malaysia with 27 gold, 31 silver and 37 bronze medals.
