President Jokowi Leaves For East Java

Jakarta (Antara Bali) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) left Jakarta on Thursday morning for a working visit to East Java.

In the company of First Lady Iriana, President Jokowi and his entourage left Halim Perdanakusuma airport here at 8 am West Indonesia Standard Time (WIB).

While in East Java, the head of state is scheduled to oversea numerous infrastructure projects, and to distribute three social cards: the Indonesian Health Cards (KIS), Indonesian Smart Cards (KIP), and the Prosperous Family Cards (KKS) to some local residents.

Earlier in past weeks, President Jokowi has handed out similar social cards to the people of numerous regions in Central Java, Papua, and even in Jakarta.

To the recipients of the cards, the president asked them to use the cards as well as possible so as to provide great benefits for improved welfare.

He affirmed that the KIP will guarantee that all school-aged children from disadvantaged families will receive financial assistance for education until they complete high school or vocational school.

This program will gradually expand to reach as many as 24 million school-aged children, including those with social welfare problems and school-aged children from disadvantaged families who were previously not covered.

While the KIP will also cover school-aged children not enrolled in schools such as street children, child laborers, orphans, and the disabled. (WDY)
