Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The National Police Commission (Kompolnas) announced that it has yet to reveal the name of a candidate to replace Commissioner General Budi Gunawan if President Joko Widodo cancels his inauguration as National Police chief.
"We have not come up with a new name," Kompolnas member Adrianus Meliala stated in an SMS message to Antara on Thursday night.
However, Adrianus said his side will work quickly if President Jokowi, as the president is popularly called, canceled the inauguration of Budi Gunawan and urged the Kompolnas to nominate a new name.
"It should not take time to prepare the new names," he affirmed.
So far, President Jokowi has not yet taken any decision regarding Budi Gunawan.
Jokowi has named Budi Gunawan as the sole candidate for National Police chief, but the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) later named him as a corruption suspect.
The independent team formed by Jokowi has recommended that the president should not install Budi Gunawan. (WDY)
