Indonesian Trade Minister To Attend World Economic Forum

Davos (Antara Bali) -- Indonesian Trade Minister Rachmat Gobel will attend the World Economic Forum (WEF) scheduled to take place in Davos, Switzerland, from January 22 to 24.

"This forum provides Indonesia with a great platform to explore the possibility of establishing economic cooperation with countries and attracting investors," Gobel said in a short text message on Wednesday.

Discussions at the forum will be based on the theme of "Trade & Investment in the 21st Century: What really matters?" he revealed.

According to the minister, participants of the forum will discuss two initiatives---direct trade practice reforms and long-term systemic improvements.

Gobel will also hold talks with the European Union, trade representatives of the United States, and world business agents, on the sidelines of the forum.

The Indonesian trade minister is now in Japan to identify potential for establishing cooperation with Japanese business agents in the trade field and attract investors to put money into the industry.

Noted Indonesian business agents, including President Director of PT Astra International Tbk Prijono Sugiato, President Director of Sinar Mas Group Franky Wijaya, Chris Kanter of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), and President Director of Bank Mandiri Tbk Budi Sadikin, will also attend the forum.
