President Attends Nusantara Day in Banjarmasin

     Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Antara Bali) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in the company of First Lady Iriana arrived in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan on Monday to attend Nusantara Day 2014 in Kotabaru, some 300 km to the east from here.

         The president, along with his entourage, arrived at Syamsuddin Noor airport here at 9.30 am Central Indonesia Standard Time (WITA) and was greeted with local traditional dance in a welcoming ceremony.

         After the ceremony, President Jokowi made his way to Syamsir Alam airport on board a military CN-295 small plane to Kotabaru district to attend the peak event of Nusantara Day, and to oversee Dirgahayu fishermen village.

         From South Kalimantan, the president is also scheduled to fly into Tarakan, North Kalimantan, where he will open a congress on Kalimantan Regional Development Planning on Monday night.

         On Tuesday, the head of state will also make his way to Sebatik island on the border between Indonesia and Malaysia for dialog with the local community, and then proceed to Nunukan district to oversee the Nunukan port development.

         The president and his entourage will return to Jakarta on Tuesday afternoon. (WDY)
