Yogyakarta (Antara Bali) - An increase in investment in various sectors would be a key to success in driving the country's economic growth in 2015, an economist said.
Big steps, therefore, should be taken to attract and encourage investment, economist from the Gajah Mada University of Yogyakarta Sri Adiningsih said.
"The strong confidence of the business people and investors in the government should not be wasted. The opportunity could be a key for economic growth in 2015," Sri Adiningsih here on Thursday.
She said investment is one of the most prospective drivers for economic growth at this time in addition to consumption n and exports.
She referred to the installation of President Joko Widodo on Oct. 20 replacing Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
"Investment is the most possible to significantly be boosted at the first eyars of the Jokowi administration," Sri Adiningsih said.
Investment that need to be boosted concerns not only foreign and domestic investment , but also concerns capital spending, she added.
Strong investment growth would open more jobs that the economic growth target of 5.8 percent set in the state budget could be reached easier, she said.
She said the success in attracting investment would depend on the policy of the government and how far the policy is pro investment and how far the government is ready to facilitate investment and simplify the licensing procedure.
"Since 2011 , the country's economic growth has been slowing and the trend should be reversed with favorable policy," she said (MFD)
