Jokowi to Announce Cabinet Lineup on Sunday Afternoon

Jakarta (Antara Bali) - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo is slated to announce his cabinet lineup at the State Palace, here, on Sunday at 4 pm.

The cabinet members would be announced on Sunday afternoon, and they would be officially installed on Monday, former deputy chairman of Jokowi's Transition Team Andi Widjajanto told the media on Saturday.

After their inauguration, they will attend the first cabinet meeting to be headed by President Jokowi on Monday at 2 pm.

"The president wants to hold the first cabinet meeting on Monday (Oct 27)," Andi Widjajanto stated.

He added that at the first meeting, Jokowi would give directives to his newly-inducted ministers.

Furthermore, the president expressed hope that the ministers would get to work immediately after the cabinet meeting, he noted.

Joko Widodo and Jusuf Kalla were sworn in as the president and vice president of Indonesia, respectively, on Monday (October 20).

Jokowi's Transition Team had earlier submitted 43 names of prospective ministers to the KPK for track record check.

The KPK returned to the president the results of its examinations, giving yellow and red marks to prospective ministers who have the potential to be involved in legal cases.

In accordance with the KPK's recommendations, President Jokowi had to  replace eight of the prospective ministers, causing the delay in the announcement of the cabinet lineup which was earlier scheduled on Wednesday (Oct 22).

The president has up to 14 days to name his team, but previous presidents usually did so soon after their swearing-in.

Earlier, Jokowi said he would have four coordinating ministers and 29 ministers in his Cabinet. Of the total ministerial posts, 18 posts would be filled by professionals and technocrats and the rest would from from political parties that particularly join his Great Indonesia Coalition (KIH).

The four coordinating ministers will likely be the coordinating minister for political, legal and security affairs; the coordinating minister for economic affairs; coordinating minister for human development and social and cultural affairs; and the coordinating minister for maritime affairs, natural resources and the environment.
