US Air Force Cargo Plane Unloads Logistics in Bali

Denpasar (Antara Bali) - A US Air Force cargo plane has landed at Ngurah Rai airport to unload logistic supplies needed with regard to President Barack Obama's planned visit in the middle of June.

"The plane only unloaded logistic supplies needed for the planned visit of President Obama to Bali," Bali regional police command spokesman Senior Commissioner Gde Sugianyar said here on Thursday.

Asked if the plane also unloaded security equipment he said he only heard that it had only unloaded logistics.

The US Air Force plane landed at Ngurah Rai airport at around 5pm local time on Wednesday.

The Boeing C-17 Globemaster after unloading flew back to the US," Sugianyar said.

He said a similar plane was likely to come again to bring other goods but he could not tell when.

He said a similar plane once landed and unloaded cargo at the airport.

According to records, on March 18, 2010 a US Air Force cargo plane landed on the island to unload logistic supplies in connection President Obama's visit to Bali from March 23 to 25 which was later postponed.

Due to the postponement the cargo that had been unloaded was then loaded again and brought back to the US. "Now the same logistics is unloaded again," he said.

Asked about possible postponement again, Sugianyar said he could not confirm it. We have conducted anticipatory security efforts," he said.

He said he could not also tell the exact date of President Obama's visit to the island nor places to visit.(*)
