Bali Earns US$8.46 Million From Fish And Shrimp Exports

Denpasar (Antara Bali) - Bali exported US$8.46 million worth of fish and shrimp in July this year mainly to the United States.

Exports to the United States made up around 38 percent of the total exports in value. The second largest market was Japan to which exports accounted for 16.64 percent followed by China to which exports 7.87 percent of the total exports in value.

Fresh fish and shrimp are also high in demand in Australia to which exports accounted for 7.65 percent. Other main markets included Singapore accounting for 1.30 percent, Germany for 1.45 percent, France for 1.86 percent, Britain for 0.58 percent and Thailand for 0.87 percent.

The remaining 16.92 percent of the earning was from exports to various other countries, head of the Bali Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) Adi Nugroho said here on Friday.

Adi Nugroho said the exports in July fell US$1.05 million or 11.07 percent in value from US$9.51 million in June this year, but 5.61 percent higher than exports of US$8.014  million in the same month last year.
The fish and shrimp exports contributed 20.59 percent to Bali's total exports value of US$41.112 million  in July 2017, up 4.17 percent  from US$39.46 million in June, and 46 percent higher than US$28.15 million  in the same month last year.

Adi Nugroho said fish and shrimp are one of five main export commodities of Bali contributing the largest portion of 20.59 percent to the province's total export earning , followed by jewelry ornament contributing 11.74 percent, non knitted ready made wear 11.49 percent, timber  and timber product 10.59 percent  and furniture  and household illumination 6.95 percent.
