Bandung, West Java (Antara Bali) - West Java Vice Governor Deddy Mizwar led a provincial-level celebration ceremony at Gedung Sate in West Java to mark World Food Day on Wednesday.
"We hope this momentum can serve as a driving force for us to constantly build sustainable local-level food sovereignty," Mizwar affirmed.
According to Mizwar, West Java province has been able to position itself as a leading strategic supplier of food commodities at the national level.
"It is a success for the people of West Java who are supported by natural and human resources," he remarked.
However, he acknowledged that some challenges still existed in establishing food sovereignty, increasing production, and achieving self-sufficiency in West Java.
"These challenges are due to dynamic internal and external factors, so they must be anticipated by all stakeholders," he pointed.
Mizwar explained that one of the challenges to be faced was handling the impacts of global warming resulting in climate change, which is difficult to forecast, and the difficulties in land conversion.
The West Java vice governor then called on all public elements in the province to make the food diversification movement a success in a bid to ensure food security. (WDY)
