Luwuk, C Sulawesi (Antara Bali) - President Joko Widodo inaugurated an upstream and downstream integrated project of PT Pertamina worth US$5.8 billion in Banggai district, Central Sulawesi, on Sunday.
"With the operation of the Senoro Donggi terminal, I hope gas needs in Sulawesi and eastern Indonesia will be met," he said when inaugurating the Donggi Senoro liquefied natural gas refinery in the village of Uso, Batui.
President Joko Widodo ordered for serious monitoring of the mega project to assure it is really realized as planned.
"The integration must not only be on paper but also in the field, from upstream to downstream from gas producer to users including petrochemical industries, power plants and LNG plants," he said.
President Joko Widodo also instructed finding possible obstacles hampering the integration process for solutions.
"If the obstacle is small, solve it yourself but if it is big and needs a backup from the president tell me," he said.
The Pertamina integrated mega project integrates upstream and downstream gas industries.
It includes a central processing plant managed by Pertamina-Medco Tomori Sulawesi with an investment of US$1.2 billion, Senoro-Toili Block and Matindok Block managed by Pertamina with an investment of US$0.8 billion and a Liquified Natural Gas Refinery which is a joint venture between PT Pertamina through Pertamina Hulu Energi, Medco Energi, Mitsubishi Corporation and Korea Gas Corporation with an investment of US$2.8 billion and an ammonia plant managed by PT Panca Amara Utama with a total investment of US$0.7 billion.
